Meet your photographer

My expertise in photography comes from humble beginnings. I remember my parents often using their polaroid to take pics of me and my siblings. Some of those polaroids of me are in my possession now. I have a polaroid sx-70 and a polaroid 600 in my closet. My frugality with the film is because each shot is about $5 a pop. In this economy?

Back in 2017, I decided to move in with my friend in Seattle. Thumbtack was working alright for me while living in the Tri-Cities but I wanted to reach more people. Since I was a kid, I have always wanted to live in the city. My dad would drive me and my older sibling to Uwajimaya and then we would take the ferry to Bremerton. I still remember where they put the old Uwajimaya downtown. Now I get the visit the modern one in the International District.

Since moving to Seattle, I have slept in my car and held obnoxious 9-5 jobs that barely paid my bills. I used to live in a small, “open room” studio in the U District with two cats. My adaptation to living here required being creative with finding food and ways to pay rent. My photography career truly found footing once I settled into the city life. I have been told multiple times that I, “have a great eye for photography.”

There have also been many people who told me that getting into portraiture was, “difficult” because, “it is an oversaturated market". No challenge was too big for me to take on, because this is something I am truly passionate about! What I want to do is work with people within my community. Art is for everyone. As my friend would always say, “Do not let your dreams be dreams!”
